Summary

The Manager of Engineering and Design will play a key role at MaxGen.  They join a strong team and will be directly involved with the installation and commissioning of hundreds of Direct Current Fast Charging EV Stations and EV infrastructure projects. The Manager of Engineering and Design will provide direct support to our Project Managers enabling the team to meet all customer requirements (business/technical) and deadlines.  The Manager of Engineering and Design will also be responsible for technical leadership enabling the team to successfully complete of all phases of design. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are not limited to:
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Engineering and Design Team.
  • Ensure proper safety policies are in place, adhered to at all times.
  • Manage CAD and Permit Teams, prioritize and schedule work to ensure it is consistent with MaxGen and client schedule requirements.
  • Review, correct, and make ready plan set submittal packages for customer and AHJ review and approval.
  • Support clients in problem resolutions, clarifying client design requirements, advising clients of more cost-effective alternatives, and supporting client goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Project Managers, clarifying installation drawings, make revisions for field changes, analyze installation and field inspection issues.
  • Prepare technical documents for Senior Electrical PE signature.
  • Integrate and mitigate design issues to ensure successful project completion.
  • Work with Senior Electrical PE to review and advise on system installation issues and feasibility.
  • Write project installation specifications
  • Produce and maintain project scheduling and progress reporting.
  • Estimate engineering design cost, prepare engineering and design proposals, and direct issuance of progress and completion billings.
  • Direct, advise, and collaborate with CAD Techs on system design, plan set information content, specification, and standardize plan set organization and content.
  • create single line diagrams for each voltage type systems and create load analysis for each type of system.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred)
  • Minimum xx years relevant engineering experience in electrical infrastructure design and analysis
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience

  • Ability to communicate in person or over the phone with AHJ having difficulty understanding submittal documents, plan check corrections, and code issues.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state ADA requirements as part of EV infrastructure development.
  • Ability to analyzing project design requirements and determine what is needed and what does/does not work well with existing conditions.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices and quality orientation.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems including switchgear, transformers, panelboards and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of 208, 240, 480, 12.5-volt systems single phase and 3phase
  • Strong computer and MS Office skills, able to use all MS 365 Apps and Skye for presentations and design collaborations.
  • Desire to learn and develop within the role.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Travel as required.
  • Long work hours as needed to support required work and meet deadlines.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat and safety glasses when applicable (on jobsite).
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with employees and customers.
