Summary

The Senior Manager – Safety, Health, & Environmental position is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the MaxGen Safety, Health and Environmental program. This role is integral in driving the overall safety culture of the company and ensuring the proper tools and support is in place to grow and maintain a strong SH&E program. This position will work with a diverse group that cover all areas of the company including utility grade solar power plants, commercial solar service, electric vehicle charging station construction and service, warehouse and building, office staff, etc. 

Job Responsibilities

Develop, execute, manage, and provide continuity of the company and remote sites Safety, Health, & Environmental (SH&E) program for a nationwide service group.
 
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Long term SH&E program vision and planning
  • SH&E program development, implementation, and oversight per local, state and federal regulations
  • Company-wide SH&E training program development, facilitation, and tracking in conjunction with the Training Manager
  • Facilitate risk assessment on location to identify critical SH&E hazards and aspects
  • Determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
  • Lead SH&E projects to improve SH&E key performance metrics at all locations
  • Maintaining, managing, and reporting all SH&E metrics
  • Regulatory notification and reporting
  • Regulatory and other record keeping as relevant
  • Work closely with insurance provider to manage claims as relevant
  • Client & subcontractor safety prequalification review and approval
  • Conduct SH&E internal audits, support customer audits, identify corrective actions needed, and ensure that policies are being followed consistently.
  • Incident investigations, root cause analysis, and resolution management
  • Acts as the emergency evacuation coordinator for the facility
  • Generate and distribute notification bulletins, policy updates, and SH&E newsletters
  • Supports creation of SH&E goals and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive SH&E culture, compliance, and results.
  • Partners with leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to support a culture that enables employees to successfully meet safety goals and objectives.
  • Guide Safety Committee in actions to move the culture forward in safety.


Education and Experience

Required:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience facilitating and managing Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) programs
  • Minimum 2 years of SH&E experience in an energy generation environment with strong utility scale power plant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related fields - preferred
  • CSP – preferred
  • 2+ years of managerial experience - preferred


Skills and Experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning skills, excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential
  • Strong skills in using MS office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Etc.)
  • Well-founded knowledge in Federal and State regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
  • Self-starter with the ability to perform with very little oversight while working within and fostering a team oriented environment.


Working Environment
  • Position will work out of the Costa Mesa corporate office
  • Travel may be required – Up to 50% as needed
  • Normal Office Environment
  • Routinely operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Occasionally move about and between MaxGen offices for coordination with stakeholders
  • Frequently communicates with employees, stake holders and customers
