Summary:
Experienced Estimator will work to estimate multiple construction projects, including change orders, etc.  We are a general contractor specializing in commercial construction projects. The Estimator will be responsible for the project cost estimation, by collecting information and pricing projects according to job specification. This role requires excellent communication and customer services skills.  The position will be based out of our corporate office in Costa Mesa, CA. However, will have responsibilities in multiple states nationally.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Gathers information and identifies requirements and sets priorities  
  • Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information
  • Maintains quality service by following company standards, policies and best practices
  • Coordinates with corporate, division and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
  • Initiates consistent communication with customer, project team and sales team
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned     
 
Qualifications:
Estimating in high value commercial construction projects is a must! Required skills:
  •           Ability to read blue prints
  •           Attention to detail
  •           Ability to write and read scope of work
  •           Experience with Electrical Utility infrastructure estimating
  •           Electrical and civil estimating
  •           Ability to anticipate trades that are left off a scope, based on experience in the industry
  •           Ability to anticipate risks and issues by asking questions for clarity
  •           Microsoft Office, McCormick Systems (Electrical) BidMail & BlueBeam experience is helpful
  •           Ability to work under tight schedules and extreme pressure
  •           Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  •           Proven track record of successful awarded job
  •           Ability to follow up and stay on top of projects.
  •           Experience in Project Management, preferably in construction
  •           Excellent analytical skills
  •           Strong reporting and documentation skills
  •           Ability to work with a variety of personalities and maintain composure under stressful conditions
  •           Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but equivalent experience acceptable
  •           Act as a resource to project management during the award and start-up phase of the project and outline what  was considered in the estimate.
 
Working Environment
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to job sites several days per week with occasional overnight stays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and travel
  • Position requires frequent construction site visits with open trenches and other construction related hazards
